54-40 or Fight: Pre-Printed Quilt Pattern and FPP Templates

This 54-40 or Fight quilt pattern (a.k.a. Tennessee Waltz) combines FPP and traditional quilting to create this circular design without any curved quilt piecing! This particular quilt is made with two fabrics, but it is also incredibly beautiful using more fabrics or even scraps.

This quilt is made partially with foundation paper piecing (FPP) and partially with traditional quilt piecing. By introducing FPP into the pattern, it greatly simplifies the piecing of certain components of the quilt, particularly the triangle in a square block. This quilt pattern is easier to make than one would think. We consider it a confident beginner or intermediate quilt pattern. The final quilt is a throw size quilt that measures 73 by 73 inches, and is perfect for snuggling under on the couch. 

This pre-printed pattern includes fabric requirements, cutting instructions, sewing and assembly instructions, 156 FPP templates printed on newsprint and a coloring page for planning other coloring designs. The FPP templates are printed on newsprint, which allows quilters to easily remove the papers after sewing. The pattern and templates are printed and packaged for you, and then shipped to your address!

This pattern includes basic instructions explaining the sewing technique of foundation paper piecing (FPP).  In addition, the FPP templates are very easy and simple, and perfect for those that are beginners to foundation paper piecing.  This is a quilt pattern favorite with its impactful and striking circular design, yet there is no curved piecing!
